Some western tourists come during monsoon season but Indian tourists are very less – due to the crowd being less, prices are also more affordable.
  • The best time to explore Alleppey is in the morning and evening when there is no sunlight. So try to wake up early in the morning to start your day to explore more.

How to Reach Alleppey?

  • If you are coming to Kerala by flight, then Kochi is the nearest airport for Alleppey. You will get the bus from Kochi to Alleppey, which takes approximately 1 hour.
  • If you are traveling by train, then Kochi railway station is the biggest and nearest one. From there you will get a local train to Alappuzha Railway Station.
  • The best place to hire a houseboat is the Government Tourist Centre which is near Alleppey Bus Station.

Extra Tips:

  • Hiring a houseboat is the most popular experience in Alleppey, but it can be a little expensive – around ₹5000 for 24 hours. If you are travelling solo, sharing the boat with a few people can be the best option to save your money.

The cold increases from December to February, but winter in Delhi has its own fun. Also, many cultural festivals and events happen between this season, which can make your trip even more memorable.

Approx 2-3 day trips are perfect to explore Delhi.

  2. June to September Monsoon season. Mumbai rains have their own unique fun! Marine Drive and Gateway of India look even more beautiful during rains.

    But sometimes the rains are heavy, so carry waterproof gear. Sometimes it is prohibited to go to the beach due to heavy rains.
  3. March to May is the summer season, which I never suggest because it is very humid and hot, approximately 25°C to 38°C or even more. Evening is the best time to explore during the summer season. It is very hot during the day.

Imagine, you are in an open valley amidst mountains, and wherever you look you see only colourful flowers… dreamy, isn’t it? But to fulfill this dream, you will have to do some hard work.

📍 Where is this Valley of Flowers?

This beautiful place is located near Joshimath (Uttarakhand). It takes approximately 3 days to reach here:

  • First you have to reach Govindghat by taking an 8-hour bus ride from Rishikesh/Haridwar/Dehradun. After that, there is a 2-day trek via Ghangharia and then you get to a very beautiful place called ‘Valley of Flowers’.

🌦️ When is the right time to go here?

Valley of Flowers is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and it remains open only during the monsoons. The best time is between 15 July to 15 August, when the monsoon is at its peak and the entire valley is in full bloom. But if you go early then perhaps all the flowers will not bloom and if you go late then you will find the flowers wilted. So if you are planning then plan from July to August only.

📝 Travel Tips for Solo/Group Travellers

Do visit Hemkund Sahib as well, it is on the trek of Valley of Flowers. Both spots can be covered together.

Trek Plan (Min 2 Days):

  • Day 1: Trek from Govindghat to Ghangharia (may take 5 hours, is quite steep). Try to complete the trekking in one day.
  • Day 2: Trek from Ghangharia to Valley of Flowers and then back.
  • Day 3 (Optional): You can see Hemkund Sahib or return journey.
  • Don’t forget to take rain gear as this trek happens during monsoon season.
  • Valley entry timings are open from 7am to 5pm. The entry booking counter closes after 12 noon, so it is important to keep track of the timing.

Entry Fee:

  • ₹150 for Indians
  • ₹600 for Foreigners
  • DSLR/Video camera (non-commercial use) – free!

Trek solo or group tour?

  • If you like adventure, do a self-planned trek.
  • Otherwise group tour booking is also available (comfortable for first-comers).
